Braves upset Pirates in IVC South showdown

Garaway traveled South on Tuesday Jan. 24 to battle Indian Valley in an IVC South heavyweight matchup. The Braves would walk away victorious to up their record to 11-5 and 6-3 IVC. The Pirates dropped to 13-2 and 7-2 IVC.

Indian Valley jumped out to a 17-9 lead after the first quarter. Indian valley had their way with Garaway in the first half scoring almost all of their points in the paint and slicing up the pirate defense. But still Garaway hung around thanks to three pointers from Drew Mullet and timely steals from Blaine Raber. 30-27 Indian Valley at the break.

Twins Alexander and Brady Roden got the third quarter started with back to back buckets to give Garaway it’s first lead of the game. Isaac Klaserner would hit a couple free throws and a three pointer to end the third period at 43-33.

Garaway would battle back and close the lead to 61-58 scoring off a Logan Yoder three and Drew Mullet free throws.

Garaway would foul with a minute left but was not able to come back as Indian Valley made free throws in the clutch. 62-58 Indian valley win.

Braves Isaac Klaserner was a force inside and out as he finished with 17. Brayden Troyer finished with 13. Benaiah Klaserner and Isaiah Pryor both ended with 9 points.

Scoring for the Pirates was Drew Mullet with 15. Logan Yoder and Alexander Roden both chipped in 10.

This loss by Garaway opens the door for Sandy Valley and Indian Valley to claim the IVC South title with both teams sitting one game back from Garaway.
